Kraken launches regulated crypto derivatives platform for U.S. traders

    Kraken

Kraken, a leading global cryptocurrency exchange, has launched ‘Kraken Derivatives US’, a regulated platform that gives U.S. clients direct access to crypto futures listed on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME). The new offering is integrated into the Kraken Pro interface, allowing traders to manage both spot and derivatives positions in a unified environment.

“With this launch, Kraken clients in the U.S. can now trade futures alongside one of the world’s most liquid cryptocurrency spot markets,” said Shannon Kurtas, Head of Exchange at Kraken. “It’s a meaningful step in giving traders broad market access and increased capital efficiency within a regulated and high-performance environment.”

Kraken Derivatives US allows instant funding and seamless collateral transfers, enabling traders to execute complex strategies like hedging and arbitrage without switching platforms. The integration of spot and futures markets enhances capital efficiency and provides a streamlined experience for advanced users and institutions.

    CME Group

The crypto futures offered through Kraken Derivatives US are listed on CME Group, one of the most trusted and regulated futures marketplaces in the world. CME’s crypto products, including Bitcoin and Ether futures, are regulated by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), ensuring compliance with U.S. financial standards.

Kraken has been steadily building out its regulatory framework in the U.S., holding licenses such as the BitLicense in New York and a Special Purpose Depository Institution (SPDI) charter in Wyoming. The launch of a regulated U.S. derivatives platform further strengthens its position as a compliance-first player in the crypto space.

Previously, Kraken offered derivatives outside the U.S. through its UK-based subsidiary, Crypto Facilities, which is registered with the UK Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). The new U.S. service now brings regulated access to American traders, who have had limited futures options amid a tightening regulatory climate.

    U.S. market

By combining deep spot market liquidity with CME-listed futures, Kraken is targeting institutional and sophisticated retail investors who require robust trading infrastructure. The move positions Kraken as one of the few platforms offering both spot and regulated derivatives under one roof in the U.S. market.

Kraken’s expansion into derivatives is part of its broader mission to make advanced crypto trading tools more accessible and secure within a compliant, high-performance environment.
