Solana’s debut mobile launch, Solana Mobile, and announcement of its SKR token have already rattled the crypto industry. The crypto community is already excited about what Solana has unveiled, and if you are one among them, note that the SKR token is set to launch in January 2026.

What is Solana Mobile’s SKR token?

Much like how we see new mobile phone versions launching in the market, Solana has launched two generations of mobile phones: Solana Saga and Solana Seeker.

Along with the launch of Solana Seeker in August 2025, the blockchain firm introduced the SKR token. This unique token built on the Solana blockchain supports the entire Solana Mobile economy.

Use cases of Solana Mobile’s SKR token

As the SKR token is scheduled to launch next month, the Web3 world is gearing up to witness a major evolution in the industry. SKR is the native token of the Solana Mobile ecosystem and is mainly tied to the Solana Seeker economy.

Here are the use cases of the SKR token that you need to know.

  • Incentives – users can earn rewards in SKR tokens for staking and participating in apps. Participants are entitled as ‘Guardians.’
  • Governance – SKR governs or coordinates the entire Solana mobile economy, including policy making and sharing incentives.
  • SKR Flywheel – unites users, builders, and manufacturers.
Manufacturers who adopt the Solana Mobile Stack software onto their Android devices can earn incentives.

Likewise, if a user earns SKR tokens, more people will start using the device. More users mean high potential revenue for app builders. In short, the growth of one participant in the Flywheel strengthens the growth of the others.

SKR tokenomics

As announced by Solana, the SKR token has a total supply of 10 billion, of which 30% is allocated for airdrops, while 10% goes to liquidity and launch. Another 10% is set aside for community-based purposes like incentives, operations, programs, and more.

Besides, 10% of the 10 billion supply is allocated to fund operations and development of Solana Mobile, and another 10% moves to support Solana Labs.

Solana Mobile’s first-generation phone

Solana Mobile launched its first-generation, Solana Saga, in June 2022.  However, unlike the typical mobile phones, Solana Saga is described as an Android Web3 mobile phone.

This version relies on the Solana Mobile Stack software, where you can see

  • native Solana apps,
  • a seed vault for storing private keys,
  • Solana Pay
  • Solana dApp store

Solana Seeker also constitutes similar features, but with more advanced versions of  Seed Vault Wallet, hardware, dApp store, and enhances a better Web3 experience.
