Elon Musk’s X (formerly Twitter) experienced an outage after users reported disruptions on Tuesday evening. X users across different countries, including the UAE, experienced this downtime as Cloudflare is currently facing an outage. Besides, parts of the entire web have also reportedly stopped working due to Cloudflare’s technical outage.
Cloudflare is a cloud-based internet infrastructure that provides services to improve performance, security, and reliability of websites.
In the wake of the downtime, Cloudflare stated: “Cloudflare is aware of and investigating an issue which potentially impacts multiple customers. Further detail will be provided as more information becomes available.”
The Cloudflare outage has also impacted several other platforms, including ChatGPT, Spotify, Canva, Grindr, the film reviewing site Letterboxd, and more.
For the crypto community, X is a hub for constant discussion, and its downtime has created tension among users.
Several people took to social media platforms, such as Reddit, to comment on the disruption. One Reddit user wrote: “You don’t realize how many websites use Cloudflare until Cloudflare stops working. Then you try to look up how many websites use Cloudflare and can’t because all the Google results that would answer your question also use Cloudflare.”
Another user is highly optimistic about decentralized communication networks that do not undergo any outages. “So happy we came up with the idea of a decentralized communication network that is resistant to single points of failure.”
An interesting comment came from a user who believes that companies are using AI to write code, which he suggests is clearly evident from the recent cloud/service outages.
Last month, Amazon Web Services (AWS) faced a similar outage, hitting millions of internet users and several companies. It also affected platforms such as Reddit, Snapchat, Roblox, and Fortnite gaming platforms, and banks like Halifax and Lloyds.
