Elon Musk has officially launched Grokipedia, his version of an AI-powered encyclopedia, challenging the ways of Wikipedia.
In a series of tweets, Musk said that Grokipedia is about providing factual information, and its goal is “truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.”

We will never be perfect, but we shall nonetheless strive towards that goal. https://t.co/j8bJf7c4Hl
The platform launched over 885,000 AI-generated and verified articles on Monday. He stated that anyone can use the platform, add content, or edit it; however, the contents and changes are verified by the AI before approval.
Grokipedia vs Wikipedia
Musk views the platform as ever evolving, an encyclopedia designed to eliminate the propaganda and bias that conventional encyclopedias often contain. By integrating the core sources of information while leveraging xAI’s Grok AI, the algorithm sets the platform apart from Wikipedia’s eight million human-written entries.
Soon after the launch of Grokipedia, the platform crashed with an overwhelming number of curious users. However, some of the early visitors shared their observations about the close resemblance of Wikipedia’s layout and content, noting that articles on PlayStation 5 and Lamborghini appear to be similar to Wikipedia.
Despite Musk’s claim of Grokipedia to ‘cut through bias and bureaucracy, ’ many users and critics questioned the platform’s neutrality and observed a right-leaning bias, pointing out examples of gender perceptions, a biography on Donald Trump, and even a favourable article on Musk himself.
Experts on open source Grokipedia
On Musk’s latest tweet on X (formerly Twitter), he stated that the goal is to ‘create an open-source platform with a comprehensive collection of all knowledge’.

The goal here is to create an open source, comprehensive collection of all knowledge.
Then place copies of that etched in a stable oxide in orbit, the Moon and Mars to preserve it for the future.
Foundation.
However, a spokeswoman for Wikimedia Foundation told AFP, “Unlike newer projects, Wikipedia’s strengths are clear: it has transparent policies, rigorous volunteer oversight, and a strong culture of continuous improvement.”
Another ‘X’ user said that the platform is built to control what people learn and to shape how they think, ultimately to redefine what the “truth” is.
The launch of Elon Musk’s Grokipedia aligns with xAI’s broader mission to accelerate human scientific discovery. However, the project, still in its infancy, depicts Musk’s most ambitious experiment, according to reports.
