Autonomous vehicles are set to make the next big move in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi with a new collaboration with Tensor at its forefront.
Tensor Auto Inc., a Silicon Valley-based AI company, and the Abu Dhabi Investment Office (ADIO), and the Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT), have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to work together on developing, testing, and commercializing self-driving technologies in Abu Dhabi.
The MoU was signed by His Excellency Badr Al-Olama, Director General of ADIO, representatives from the Department of Municipalities and Transport, and Hugo Fozzati, Chief Business Officer of Tensor, and senior officials from across the Abu Dhabi ecosystem, at DRIFTx 2025 during the Abu Dhabi Autonomous Week hosted by ADIO, under the emirate’s Smart and Autonomous Vehicle Industries (SAVI) cluster.
Closely aligned with the objectives of the SAVI cluster, the partnership focuses on facilitating the trial for autonomous vehicle technology alongside shared knowledge, regulatory coordination, and future commercialization.
SAVI brings together a major initiative designed to unite research, testing, regulation, industrial production, and investment for the advancement of the next-gen autonomous mobility across air, land, sea, and robotics. The cluster is expected to contribute AED 44 billion to Abu Dhabi’s GDP and create more than 35,000 highly skilled jobs by 2045.
Hugo Fozzati, Chief Business Officer at Tensor, said in an official statement, “Abu Dhabi represents a defining chapter in Tensor’s journey. Our collaboration with ADIO and the Department of Municipalities and Transport reflects a shared vision to make autonomy safer, more human-centric, more secure, and more scalable. We are proud to contribute to the UAE’s leadership in intelligent mobility.”
After the official launch of Tensor at the Dubai World Congress for Self-Driving Transport and GITEX Global 2025, the company broadened its vision to Abu Dhabi, showcasing its commitment to supporting and investing in the UAE’s long-term mobility vision.
