The UAE, once a plain desert, has now transformed into one of the leading destinations for digital technology. Within it, Dubai is rapidly growing, breaking boundaries to embrace the digital era. Amid its growing adoption of digital technology, the Dubai Technological and Digital Leaders Majlis executives gathered to discuss digital transformation, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity. 

Chaired by Hamad Obaid Al Mansoori, Director-General of Digital Dubai, the executive team aims to drive digital growth, innovate Dubai AI use cases, and focus on cybersecurity.

Global hub for advanced technology

For Al Mansoori, the Majlis serves as a strategic forum for shaping Dubai’s innovative future and advancing AI. The forum brought together government technology leaders and international experts who were eager to brainstorm ideas for solidifying the emirate’s status as a key hub in digital technology. 

Global trends in digital technologies, potential risks, and disruptions were also vital points of discussion. Importantly, the forum focused on achieving His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai’s vision of making Dubai the world’s best city.

Dubai has a great ambition to become one of the leading centres for digital technology. The emirate has already launched several major initiatives in AI. Multiple sectors in the emirates, such as transportation, travel, medicine, health, education, and more. Recently, Dubai International Airport introduced an immigration corridor fueled by AI, allowing travelers to pass checks in seconds. 

UAE strategy for artificial intelligence

In 2017, the UAE government launched something that is significant for the country’s growth — the UAE Strategy for Artificial Intelligence 2031. The idea behind the strategy is very clear: to position the UAE as a global leader in AI. 

As is known, the strategy aims to apply AI across many sectors like government, economy, and society. The AI execution in these sectors has already begun, with multiple industries currently deploying the smart technology for smart operations.

Pilot tests for driverless taxis are now underway in Dubai, according to RTA officials. And it doesn’t stop there: even AI can come to your table in restaurants, personalize your dining experiences, and this is literally happening in the emirate. If today’s technology feels overwhelming in the UAE, the future promises even more transformative applications of AI—and that’s exactly what the Majlis executives came together to discuss.
