Imagine AI taking over traditional regulatory oversight. Dubai’s digital asset industry is experiencing AI integration after the Virtual Asset Regulatory Authority (VARA) introduced VARA Connect, an AI tool to supervise digital asset activities in Dubai.
In brief, Dubai’s comprehensive regulatory framework is stepping into overseeing the crypto asset industry to avoid malpractices and associated risks. However, this does not imply that AI will take complete supervision of virtual asset activities; instead, it will play a major role in hastening oversight processes. In October, Dubai’s VARA had already initiated the AI-project VARA Connect, signaling its leap into AI innovation.
VARA Connect enhances regulatory oversight
VARA Connect is a novel innovation in the AI and Web3 world. It is an instant AI supervision system that analyzes transactions and provides insights into transactions, identifies risks quickly, and provides complete oversight of crypto activities. The AI system ultimately reviews a digital asset provider for the regulator.
For carrying out AI-driven oversight, VARA Connect will apply blockchain analytics to track asset flows, flag high-risk wallets, and spot unusual patterns, according to an official post by DMCC Crypto Centre.
VARA has nearly 39 licensed Virtual Asset Service Providers (VASPs) in Dubai, and these entities will be directly linked to the AI system. This enables the smart AI system to get real-time visibility of the companies’ activities and instantly detect irregularities, if any.
AI-based monitoring, however, already exists in the blockchain industry. It is used for automated rug pull detection and turning risks into actions, such as holding funds or requesting re-KYC. However, an AI tool from a crypto regulator is a unique move.
AI technology is already spreading its wings across various sectors in the UAE. This includes blockchain, healthcare, e-commerce, travel and tourism, restaurants, government services, customer care, and so much more. Adding to this growing AI adoption, VARA Connect will help detecting virtual asset activities.
