As altcoin season would potentially bloom in the upcoming weeks, investors are expected to shift their funds from Bitcoin (BTC) to altcoins such as Ethereum (ETH), XRP, Solana (SOL), and more. Crypto experts have waved a bullish signal for altcoins, quoting previous successful altcoin spikes in 2017 and 2021.Â
A drop or rise for Ethereum?
Ethereum, the second-largest coin by market cap, holds an intrinsic value and unique blockchain technology. At the time of reporting, ETH was trading at $1,629.92, a 2.45% hike in the past 24 hours. Besides being a cryptocurrency, Ethereum has proven its excellence in NFTs, DeFi, DApps, and smart contracts. It has also proved to be a good coin as a store of value.
Zooming to the price analysis, as shown in the chart, ETH has been following a downtrend since January 2025. However, the 1-day trading chart of ETH signifies a major breakthrough, surpassing the downtrend. This would perhaps be one of the possible reasons why analysts are forecasting a positive trajectory for Ethereum.

Notably, several analysts and crypto media outlets have come up with a prediction that Ethereum would hit $6,563. However, for this significant spike, ETH should trade over 30.2%, which could be possible unless poor market conditions prevail. Analysis platform Moaralis anticipates a $7,340 price for ETH by 2025. Meanwhile, other analysts have predicted bearish pressure for ETH, with the price lowering to nearly $2,660.6.
Importantly, crypto analyst Ash Crypto recently posted on X that a whale has bought $3,000,000 of Ethereum. When a whale (wealthy investor) buys a crypto in a huge amount, the confidence in that asset increases, leading to a potential short-term price jump.

Besides, what could be other reasons that would possibly skyrocket the price of Ethereum? Here is the answer— in February 2025, Hong Kong accepted ETH and Bitcoin for the investment immigration scheme called Capital Investment Entrant Scheme (CIES), a venture that allows wealthy individuals to use crypto to apply for residency. Moreover, the US Securities and Exchange Commission’s (SEC) approval for options trading on exchange-traded funds (ETFs) for spot Ethereum would unfold another successful chapter for the coin.
With these developments, along with the anticipated altseason, Ethereum could potentially surge, provided no market negativity arises.
